A well that is low producing or has very little water in the bottom is considered "dry" for an electric pump but many will work just fine for a hand pump.  The same rules apply, measure the depth to the water (Static Water Level) and the total depth of the well.  If the SWL is less than 150ft and you have atleast 10ft of water in the well then it will probably work.
